How to Cultivate More Inner Peace

Suggestions from the Tuesday Practice Group:

  1. Leave for appointments early. Allow time so no rushing needed.

  2. Put things in their place so when I go to find them, they are there.

  3. Balance order with ease—what’s my balance for inner peace?

  4. Remind myself what I have influence and control over and what I don’t. What’s mine?  What’s not mine?

  5. Focus on the feeling(s) I want to have and choose strategies that are more likely to result in that feeling.

  6. When in a negative frame of mind: Am I cultivating needs met or needs not met by my thinking and speaking?

    • Choose to cultivate and acknowledge needs met.

    • Change the tape if it’s cultivating negativity.

  7. Drop the story from the head and let the feelings be felt into the heart and the body.

  8. Get comfortable with “not knowing”—practice. Do what I can and then accept “I don’t know right now.”

  9. Cultivate patience—needing something “right now” creates demand energy.

  10. Move more slowly. Speak to self:

    • “Take it easy, tiger.”

    • “For fast-acting relief, slow down.”

    • “Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.”

    • “As in life as in yoga, breathe deeply and take one step at a time.”
